Derivatives of Trig Functions

sin and cos are waves — smooth and repeating. Their derivatives are waves too, and they chase each other in a four-step cycle: sin → cos → −sin → −cos → sin. Differentiate a wave four times and you're home. Differentiating sin just shifts it a quarter turn left.
