Chemical Bonds

Look around — almost nothing is made of lone atoms. Water is two hydrogens stuck to an oxygen. Salt is sodium locked to chlorine. The world is built from atoms holding hands.

That handhold is a chemical bond. But why bother bonding at all? Because a lonely atom is usually restless, and bonding calms it down.
