Inside the Atom

An atom is unimaginably small, yet it's mostly nothing. At its center sits a tiny, dense core — the nucleus — and far, far away, electrons zip around it. If an atom were a stadium, the nucleus would be a marble at the center and the electrons would be dust circling the back rows.

Three particles run the whole show: protons, neutrons, and electrons.
