States of Matter

A solid ice cube, a puddle of liquid water, and a cloud of steam look like three totally different things. But they're all H₂O — the exact same molecules. The only difference is how those molecules are moving.

Matter comes in three everyday states: solid, liquid, and gas. And a single substance can travel between all three just by heating or cooling it.
