Solving IVPs with Laplace

Here is the whole method for an initial-value problem: (1) Laplace-transform both sides, which turns derivatives into powers of s and bakes in the initial conditions. (2) Solve the resulting algebraic equation for Y(s). (3) Take the inverse transform to read off y(t). No guessing a trial solution, no separating variables — just transform, solve, untransform.
