Verifying Solutions

Solving a differential equation can be hard. But CHECKING a proposed solution is easy — and you can do it without ever solving anything. Differentiate the candidate, drop it into the equation, and see whether the left side really equals the right side. If they match for every x, it's a genuine solution.
