Graphs

Draw a few dots, connect some with lines, and you have built one of the most powerful objects in all of mathematics: a graph. The dots are called vertices, the lines edges. That is the whole definition — and yet this skeleton describes your circle of friends, the roads between cities, the cables of the internet, and the molecules of a drug. Strip any network down to "what connects to what" and you are left with a graph.
