Ancient Egyptian surveyors knotted ropes with 12 equal sections. Folded into a triangle with sides 3-4-5, it always formed a perfect right angle — perfect for laying out square corners for fields and pyramids. They had discovered a secret of right triangles thousands of years before Pythagoras.
