Magnetism

Hold a magnet near a paperclip and feel it lunge toward you across a gap of air. Scatter iron filings near a bar magnet and they snap into graceful loops, tracing curves you can't see with your eyes. Something fills the space around a magnet — a field — and it grabs anything magnetic that enters it.
