Special Relativity

Shine a flashlight while sprinting toward a wall. You'd expect the light to travel at its speed plus yours. It doesn't. Measure it and the light still moves at exactly c — about 300 million meters per second — no matter how fast you chase it. Einstein took this bizarre fact seriously, and the universe had to bend to make it true.
