The push into your seat
A traffic light turns green. The car launches and you feel yourself pressed back into the seat. A moment later the light ahead turns red, the brakes bite, and you lurch forward against the belt. You don't feel speed — you feel changes in speed. That feeling is acceleration.
Acceleration is how quickly velocity changes, second by second.
