End Behavior of Polynomials

Take the most complicated polynomial you can imagine — a wiggling, twisting curve with a dozen turns. Now zoom out, way out, until it looks like a single smooth stroke. Up close, every term matters; far away, only ONE term is left standing: the leading term. As x grows huge, the highest-power term dwarfs all the others into insignificance. The polynomial's 'end behavior' — where it heads at the extreme left and right — is decided entirely by that leading term's degree and sign. The wiggles in the middle are details; the ends are destiny.
