Every pure tone you've ever heard is a sine wave. A high note and a low note are the SAME shape — one is just compressed (faster cycles) and possibly taller (louder). Three knobs control every trig wave: AMPLITUDE (how tall), PERIOD (how long one cycle takes), and PHASE SHIFT (where the cycle starts). Master those three and you can tune a sine wave to model any oscillation in nature — sound, light, tides, heartbeats.
