Concentration & Molarity

Two cups of coffee, same size. One has a single spoon of grounds, the other has four. Same volume, very different strength. The difference is concentration — how much is dissolved in a given amount of liquid.

Chemists need a precise version of 'strength.' The substance being dissolved is the solute; the whole mixture is the solution. Concentration says how crowded the solute is.
